On October 25, 2022, LOGODI held its fourth international forum, 'LOGODI Global Forum 2022,' under the theme, 'New Steps for Local Government Officials' Training in the Digital Transformation Era.'
With the heads of international civil service education and training institutes from twelve developing countries, about 60 Korean and foreign local government officials from 17 countries gathered and explored the new direction of public service delivery through the capacity enhancement of government officials in the digital transformation era.
Since 2019, starting as an invitational event, the LOGODI Global Forum has served as a platform for global cooperative networking to exchange new ideas in the context of efforts to contribute to achieving sustainable development goals in a global society. Every year, international delegates and government officials share experiences and challenges in civil service training and new trends of human resource development in the public sector. It has been held online for the last two years due to COVID-19, but this year it was offered as a hybrid online and offline forum to discuss the role of civil service training institutes and new educational directions and methods.
It consisted of keynote speeches, case presentations from Korea and participating countries, and discussions. Dr. Lee Jin-gu, a professor at the Korea University of Technology and Education, gave a keynote speech on 'HRD Trends and Education & Training Direction for Public Officials in Digital Transformation Era.' Following the keynote lecture, Mr. Park Yongsu, Director General of the Ministry of Personnel Management, presented HRD transformation cases in the Korean government. Dr. M Jae Moon, a Yonsei University professor, moderated the forum's presentations and discussions. The delegates of Cambodia, Kyrgyzstan, and Sri Lanka gave their presentations on the role of education and training institutions in the digital transformation era. In addition, the representatives from India, Laos, and Mongolia presented their presentations on digital competency development. Furthermore, the delegates visited the Jeonju city government, the Jeonju Social Innovation Center, and Digital Government Exhibition and Experience Center. Throughout the schedule, they explored the current status of local autonomy, government innovation, and digital government in Korea.
Mr. Lee Sang-min, Minister of the Interior and Safety, expressed his hope in a congratulatory video speech that the forum would be a platform for active discussions to draw up a progressive strategy for education and training for civil servants in the Digital Transformation era.
