16 officials from Africa share national development experiences with Korea for 3 weeks

SEOUL – A delegation of mid- to senior-level public officials from four African countries are in Korea to share the nation's strategies in local administration and regional development.

The representatives from Cameroon, Cote d'Ivoire, DR Congo and Senegal will complete their course of study in a training program sponsored by the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) and carry out by LOGODI on Saturday, May 4.

This year's "Capacity Building Program for Local Administration (Africa)" marks the third in a series begun in 2017. Courses are tailored to respond to the training needs of each country represented, which is focused the strategies of local administration as well as the expansion of regional development.

The program features site visits to the Gyeonsangbuk-do Provincial Government, Busan's Yongdo-gu District Office, E-Government Bureau, Rural Development Administration, National Agency for Administrative City Constructiion and Agro Academy etc, where trainees have the opportunity to experience these strategies in action.

Most of all, course modules are interlinked with lectures and site & study visits that focus on topics such as local administration and development, transparency in the public sector, and others.

LOGODI has carried out training programs for foreign officials since 2000, and has almost 5,000 alumni from 89 countries in 187 courses.

LOGODI president Mr. Park Jae-min gave a heartfelt welcome and addressed his sincere hope that the knowledge and experiences from this program will lay the foundation for the strengthened capacity of local government officials as well as a developed system of local administration in Africa.
